July is a Busy Month for Gilmer County Saddle Club

By July summer is in full swing and so is the Gilmer County Saddle Club.

On the 4th of July many members participated in the Downtown Ellijay Fourth of July Parade.  It was a fun event that members and spectators enjoyed! It is always wonderful to see the kids out smiling.

This weekend, Saturday June 12th, will be the annual National Racking Horse Associations St. Jude show. This is always a great event where the money goes for a great cause! Join us for the show which starts at 6:00 pm. And be sure not to miss the silent auction; always a wonderful selection of items to bid on.

The rain has delayed it twice but we are happy to announce that the Charles Sumner Memorial show will be held July 19th. The show will begin at 4:00 pm.

Also this month will be ending with our Open Horse show scheduled for July 26th.

Just a reminder to all members that we are always needing volunteers. Without volunteers these shows would not be possible. So we appreciate all the help we can get! If you are unable to volunteer but still want to help our concession stand is always in need of home baked goods or other donated items such as individual chip bags, or candy.

Open Show This Saturday ~ June 28th

Summer is officially here. Come enjoy the sunshine with us on Saturday June 28th for our monthly Open Horse Show.

Sign up will begin at noon and the show will start at 1:00pm. All members who would like to volunteer please arrive early for setup.

Fun Show Scheduled for April 12th

The first show of the season is fast approaching! Gilmer County Saddle Club will host a fun show this Saturday, April 12th, at 1:00pm.

2014 has already proved to be a busy year for Gilmer County Saddle Club and with the weather warming up things are only going to get more busy! I am sure after a long winter everyone is happy to see the sun and is looking forward to the fast approaching show season.

First off I would like take a moment to thank those that came out and supported our Coggins and Trade Day!

The 2014 show sheets have been posted. Please click the Show Schedule tab for a complete list of dates and show sheets. Our first Fun Show will be coming up April 12th and the first Open Show of the season will held April 26th.

The April Monthly Meeting will be held April 17th.

Miss Gilmer County Saddle Club 2014 THIS Saturday!

The 2014 Miss Gilmer County Saddle Club pageant will be help this Saturday and the Ellijay Elementary School Auditorium.

Check-In will begin at 12:00 p.m. and the pageant will start at 1:00 p.m. sharp.

 

Currently the age divisions are as follows:

0-12 months Tiny Miss
13 months- 2 years old Baby Miss
3-4 years old Toddler Miss
5-6 Little Miss
7-9 Young Miss
10-12 Preteen
13-15 Princess
16-18 Teen
19-21 Miss
*Age Divisions can be changed due to participation*

 

There will be two runner-ups and a queen for each division. Extra awards to be presented for: prettiest hair, smile, dress, eyes, photogenic, and outfit of choice.

This is considered a natural pageant.

Hello all Pageant Contestants,
I am ecstatic for this weekend’s upcoming pageant. Our staff and I are so ready to see all of your faces! As you all know, pageant days can get pretty crazy. So, hearing that i hope that this email can clear up some questions or maybe future concerns of the daily schedule. 
FRIDAY- Friday March 21st, is a “Rehearsal” in a sense that you can get all your last minute questions answered and have a little practice as well. This scheduled meeting/rehearsal will begin promptly at 5:30 and you can leave after the meeting session or stay and run through pageant day. PLEASE WEAR CASUAL CLOTHING. We do not want any damage dresses before pageant day and it can become very crowded. This practice will be held at Dance Etc Studio of Dance located beside the Piggly Wiggly in Ellijay, GA. Please let me know if you need assistance in finding us. Amy Sims is so very nicely letting us use her facility to practice in since we cannot get the auditorium two days in a row. Here I will have a sheet for you for last minute questions and schedule.

SATURDAY- THE BIG DAY! We will have several Saddle Club Volunteers that will be there to assist you with any needs. The auditorium will open at exactly 12:00 p.m. for registrations and signing in. As a pageant girl myself, I would suggest for you all to come between 12-12:30 to sign up and register because we cannot guarantee the schedule will follow the exact time. We also cannot wait on late contestants as well. Here at the sign-up booth will be a very organized young lady to get your contestant number and make sure your waiver is signed. PLEASE TURN IN YOUR PHOTOGENIC PICTURE TO THIS YOUNG LADY. She will also direct you to the dressing rooms and get everything situated for you. 
Each contestant will get ONE FREE PASS TO THE DRESSING ROOMS to have assistance. All additional supporting family members can go to the Admission Table to receive their ticket for $3.00. Children 5 and Under will get in free to watch. 
EXTRA PHOTOGENIC PICTURES AFTER 1 WILL BE $10.00 PER PICTURE. YOU MAY DO THIS AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE. 

During the Pageant, Myself or another volunteer will be lining girls and boys up to go on stage. I will call you out in order so do not freak out, I promise I will come and get you!

BOYS: We will have a side of the stage for your dressing rooms to be separated from the girls. 

If you need Make-up for your child, please Contact Holly Chastain on Facebook for an appointment ASAP.

WESTERN/RIDING WEAR WILL GO ON FIRST. Remember this is mandatory to compete. This is just a lineup judging session. There will be no pattern but this doesn’t mean you cannot add your “sassiness” in the lineup. 

Formal Wear will be next. This will be a pattern section of the competition. We will be looking for the normal “T” Pattern for this, if you do not know this pattern, please ask us at rehearsal and we will demonstrate and let you practice. 

Dance Etc.. will also be performing for intermission as well.

PLEASE NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE DRESSING ROOMS, AUDITORIUM, ETC.
Vendors for jewelry and such will be set up for purchases during the show

2014 Coggins and Trade Day Saturday March 8th

The 2014 Coggins and Trade Day will be held Saturday March 8th. Dr. Zager from Ocoee Animal Hospital will be available from 9:00am to 1:00 pm to pull coggins. The price is $25.00 per horse.  Other vaccinations that will be available upon request.

Trade Day booths are $10.00 per site, first come first served.

Don’t miss out on this excellent chance to get your coggins test done and be ready for the upcoming 2014 show season!

The 1st Annual Miss Gilmer County Saddle Club Pageant will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ellijay Elementary Auditorium.

The deadline for applications is Saturday, March 15. With that said there will be no last minute entries and contestants will not be taken at the door.

This will be a fun, affordable, family event. Tickets will be  $3.00 each and can be purchased at the door.

Riding Into 2014

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope that everyone has made it through the cold weather and is looking forward to spring as much as we are!

Our Board Members have started off the year by already having their first meeting and setting dates for 2014 Events. Below you will find this years Calendar of Events as well as the 2014 Membership Form.

Holiday Celebration & Awards Banquet

It’s that time of year again! Please join us Saturday, December 7th for our annual Christmas party and Awards Banquet. It will be held at 6:00pm at the Cherry Log Community Clubhouse. For those that prefer to use GPS the Clubhouse address is:  341 Cherry Log Street, Cherry Log, GA.

Or Coming from Ellijay:
Starting from the traffic light at Hardee’s
1. Head north on 515 for 8.0 miles.
2. Turn left off of 515 on to Bates Road
3. Make an immediate right on to Cherry Log Street
4. Follow along 0.3 miles to the location on the left.
Just a reminder members are asked to please bring a side dish and/or a dessert to share for the party.

As previous years we will also be taking donations for the Nursing Home also.

2014 Officer Elections

The November 2013 monthly meeting will be held Thursday November 21 at 7:00pm. Due to the cold weather the meeting will be held at the Ellijay Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.  {Please click here for directions.}

It is important that all members attend this meeting in order to vote for 2014 Officers.
