Open Fun Show starting at 6pm at Gilmer County Saddle Club is still on weather permitting.

In conjunction with the Gilmer County Fair we will be hosting a youth horse Friday August 13 that will begin at 7:00 p.m. and an Open Horse Show Saturday August 14 at 6:00 p.m..

July — Busy Month For Gilmer County Saddle Club

The summer months have been busy ones for members of the Gilmer County Saddle Club. Not only have members been participating at their local club shows, which are the fourth Saturday of every month, but members have also been traveling to other area Saddle Clubs to compete.

In July Murray County Saddle Club hosted the 51^st annual Wagon Train, which is a 10 day show in which riders compete nightly. At the end of the ten days awards are given out for High Points in each class. In order to win high point’s award riders must compete every night and then place in the top 5 of the class to receive points.

Gilmer County Saddle Club was proud to claim 7 of those high point awards this year:

Kristen Miller Wagon Train High Points Winner

Tera Watkins with Treat Her Like A Lady won high point awards in both Gaited Halter and Country Pleasure Racking. Rainey Cantrell took home the trophy in Juvenile Racking with Southern Belles Babydoll. Katie Myer and Sucha Terrific Image won 2 year and Under Western Halter and also Open Western Halter. And Kristen Miller rounded out the group by bringing home two trophies in the running events with her horse Sensation in Texas Barrels and Arena Race.

Also in July member Zach Sanford won the title of Georgia State Champion Juvenile Saddlebred division while riding Class Act Too.

August is already shaping up to be a busy month as well as members prepare for their next show that will be held in conjunction with the County Fair on August 13^th and 14^th.
